Poway business ICON Utility Services and their sister company, GIS Surveyors, Inc., recently hosted the 1st Annual Warrior Built Golf Tournament. Both companies are service-disabled veteran owned, and the tournament benefited The Warrior Built Foundation, which provides vocational and recreational opportunities to combat veterans and wounded service members. The foundation, established in 2012, is based in Lake Elsinore. Events and activities from building motorcycles to playing softball help veterans transition to civilian life with support and camaraderie.
“It’s about creating relationships between fellow combat veterans,” explained Warrior Built Founder and President Nick Hamm. “The best thing we can do for you is connect you with other combat vets in order to strengthen your support network.”
The tournament was held at Riverwalk Golf Club and welcomed 136 golfers. Eight vendors and 47 sponsors took part for a day of golf, craft brews, fine dining, and more. “Some things are worth fighting for. Our brave veterans know that; now it’s our turn,” said Paul Loska, CEO and Co-Owner of both hosting businesses.
The tournament raised $38,324 for the foundation, and plans are underway for next year’s event. Learn more and stay tuned for the 2020 tournament at www.warriorbuiltgolftournament.com.
