Celebrate Country Living

The Rotary Club of Poway-Scripps is already getting ready for this fall’s 55th Annual Poway Rotary Parade. This favorite community tradition will once again be the product of months of planning and coordination.

The club has hosted the parade since 2013. “We jumped in when the community was at risk of losing the parade and discovered we love presenting it!” said Pauline Getz, Rotary Club of Poway-Scripps immediate past president. “It’s a truly wonderful, good old-fashioned parade.”

County Supervisor Dianne Jacob will serve as grand marshal, and this year’s theme is Celebrate Country Living. “Poway, known in Kumeyaay days as the meeting of little valleys, has always had a wonderful community sense of presence stated in the city’s slogan, City in the Country,” explained Rotarian Dan Brenner. “It’s remarkable that Poway is located in a major metropolis area like San Diego County. The Rotary Club of Poway-Scripps wants to celebrate that community sentiment with a parade theme for the floats and entrants that reflects the feeling that the community already shares.”

The Rotary club is currently in the middle of fundraising efforts. Parade costs include permits, sanitation, transportation costs for high school bands, trophies, the P.A. system, and more. Sponsors and donors are welcome, and donations are accepted at

The 2019 parade will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. at Pomerado Rd. and Poway Rd. Registration is currently open for parade participants, with regular registration through July 1 and late registration starting July 2. Learn more at
