In honor of FEMA’s National Preparedness Month, Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC) is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at City Council Chambers, 13325 Civic Center Dr., with a focus on preparing for fire season and the importance of communications during emergencies. Emergency management officials will cover making personal and community preparedness plans, resources you’ll need, sheltering in place, and developing evacuation plans.

“Working together we can survive almost any disaster, but we need to plan ahead,” said Terri Sorenson, PNEC president. “Please join us and learn what you can do not only for yourself but our community to ensure our collective safety.”

PNEC is a local nonprofit organization that complements the City of Poway Emergency Operations Plan through grassroots education and communication. Learn more at
