If there’s one thing that North County residents enjoy more than the beach, it’s the various cuisine, beverages, and sweet treats throughout San Diego. Here, we offer a taste of some local flavor.

The Carlsbad-based Everbowl recently opened new locations in Scripps Ranch, Santee, and Oceanside. Everbowl offers healthy bowls filled with natural ingredients such as fresh fruit, seeds and nuts, and milk alternatives at locations across the county, including on Poway Rd.
Orange County’s popular dessert cafe Crème & Sugar recently opened its second location in Del Mar. The shop is known for colorful, picture-worthy sweets and drinks including milkshakes, hot chocolate, sundaes, floats, lattes, custom cakes, and much more. It all started with the Unicorn Hot Chocolate. Try a unicorn-inspired treat at 2646 Del Mar Heights Rd.
Fare & Festivity
All summer long, the Bernardo Winery is open through 9 p.m. every Friday night. Browse local arts and crafts vendors to the tune of live music at the weekly Artwalk. A variety of food trucks provide even more dining options in addition to the winery restaurants – including new Italian destination The Kitchen, which offers three generations of family recipes.
In the spirit of this year’s San Diego County Fair theme, “How Sweet It Is!” food vendors will be offering especially creative and colorful treats for fair-goers, like cotton candy ice cream sandwiches and unicorn cupcakes. Longtime vendors will continue to serve up old fair favorites, including corn dogs, giant turkey legs, curly fries, funnel cakes, kettle corn, and all things deep fried!
