PowPAC, Poway’s Community Theatre, closes out its 37th season with Steel Magnolias, a comedy that delves into touching humor even through a community’s darkest hours. The play centers around a Louisiana beauty salon – the social hub for free advice and hilarious banter. When one client’s diabetic daughter risks her life with a dangerous pregnancy, the play takes a tragic turn, but still highlights the community’s underlying strength, love, and humor. The play was written by American actor and playwright Robert Harling, inspired by the death of his sister, Susan.

Steel Magnolias opens Friday, May 11, and closes Sunday, June 10. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Discounts are available for students, seniors, and active duty military. Join the cast on opening night for a complimentary post-performance reception. Find tickets and learn more at www.powpac.org.
