The Poway Sheriff’s Department is looking for community members age 50 and up to join the Poway Senior Volunteer Patrol (SVP). Senior Volunteers provide a variety of services for the local community, including visiting homebound Poway residents, checking on homes when residents are on vacation, and directing traffic around accidents or fallen trees. They also represent the department at community events and assist with child ID fingerprinting. Special SVP events include the bike safety rodeo, food drives, and honor guards at Padres games.

Volunteers undergo background checks and work at least six hours a week. SVP is open to new volunteers year-round. For more information call Pete Babich, Administrator of the SVP in Poway, at 1-800-232-8000.
