Simplicity, Happiness, and Blessings
A truly local love story, Sean and Wendy Lohse met 13 years ago at Rock Bottom in La Jolla. Two weeks later, they attended their first fundraising event in support of a dear friend of Sean’s. The couple is still going strong, now an entire family complete with two kids and a dog! Colton is eight and attends Painted Rock Elementary. He loves music and dancing, riding his bike, and hanging out with his friends. Kylee is six, also at PRES and also a music lover. She enjoys climbing trees and playing in the ocean, and just joined the Painted Rock kindergarten Girl Scouts. Hank, the three-year-old family mutt, joins the Lohses for any and all family activities.
After playing football for Santa Fe Community College, Sean studied kinesiology at Fresno State. He now is the GM of the Sanctuary Lounge in Scripps Ranch. Wendy graduated from the University of Arizona in family studies/human development and is now a program coordinator for Sunny Days of California, Inc., providing in-home early intervention for young children with special needs. They enjoy going out together and being a part of fundraising events, many through Sanctuary Lounge. Some charities they’ve served include golf tournaments, Us4Warriors, and the Tailhook Association. “Most recently,” said the Lohses, “we were honored to be involved with the 1st Annual Chloe Marie Roston Golf Tournament at Mt. Woodson.”

The Lohses’ grandparents are a source of inspiration for them all: Sean’s parents have been married for 48 years and Wendy’s for 43; Colton and Kylee are a big part of their lives. The family also loves music and dancing. Sean was a dancer on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in 1997, and Colton already has a bit of a reputation for his dance skills. “Both Colton and Kylee have started honing their DJ skills at Sanctuary Lounge (before the doors open of course).” They enjoy hiking with Hank, camping, fishing, and road trips, and love finding live local music venues.
Sean and Wendy made a ‘family first’ decision to be very involved. Sean was ‘Daddy Daycare’ for both kids from four months of age, working nights while Wendy worked during the day. “We made some sacrifices but have never regretted the decision to have careers that allow us to be with our kids,” they shared. “We live a fairly simple, happy, and blessed life, and we live it to the fullest!”
