This local mini comic festival has been planned for some time but it has been a little under the radar. Pat Jenkins, manager of the Rancho Bernardo Library, said the event is 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Saturday at the library and to remind everyone it is not just for kids. “Dress up as your favorite comic book character and join the fun,” she said. “There will be different booths, fun games, and activities. We will be offering superhero cape-making and a superhero cake and snacks, while the supply lasts.”

A Kona Ice Truck will be at the event from noon to 4 p.m., with its popular steel drum music, serving its popular shaved ice drinks. They are donating 20 percent of all sales to the nonprofit Rancho Bernardo Friends of the Library, who is the primary sponsor of the event.

Part of the Saturday festivities, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include the RB Friends Summer Book Sale. A bag full of books is $3 for members of RB Friends and $5 for nonmembers. The sale is presented and staffed by the nonprofit Friends, whose mission is to raise money and public awareness in the community to support the services and programs of the library.
