New Emergency Traffic System
The Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC) will introduce the new Integrated Corridor Management Project during a meeting on Thursday, July 13 at the Poway City Council Chambers at 7 p.m. The new traffic system is designed to alleviate traffic congestion during a wildland fire or other emergencies by devising the best alternate surface street routes to detour traffic, using freeway signs to tell drivers which routes to take. Street signals will be adjusted to keep the increased traffic flowing on surface streets. Deputy Fire Chief Jon Canavan will address fire evacuation routes and discuss ways in which homeowners can protect their homes in advance of a fire at the meeting as well.
PNEC is a nonprofit organization that works to complement the City of Poway Emergency Operations Plan through a grassroots communication network of neighbors. For more information go to www.powaynec.com.
