School District Stand-Outs

The Poway Unified School District recently recognized a wide range of local teachers and district employees for the work they do to support local education. Every school site selected teachers and staff members to submit for district-wide honors.

From the group of outstanding teachers, three were selected as District Teachers of the Year: Del Norte High School’s Mark Lantsberger, Rancho Bernardo High School’s Susan Michelena, and Westview High School’s Keith Opstad. All three have been submitted for consideration for County Teacher of the Year.

“Congratulations to our three teachers of the year!” said Acting Superintendent Dr. Mel Robertson. “It is evident from their passion and expertise that they are inspiring their students each day to grow, learn, and develop their own passions. They truly represent all the incredible teachers we have throughout our school district.”
