The RB Chorale will present its 44th Anniversary Show, “Best of Broadway, Yesterday and Today,” on Friday, June, 9 and Saturday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at the Poway Center Performing Arts Center. The highlight each night will be the competition by the finalists of the chorale’s annual scholarship auditions. Finalists appearing on Friday night include: vocalist Austin John Thatcher (Poway High School), who plans to attend Palomar College; pianist Sophia Liu Su (Scripps Ranch High School), who will attend UCLA in the fall; and tenor saxophonist Derrick “DJ” Kennedy Martin, Jr. (Poway High School), who will study music business and entrepreneurship at SDSU. Finalists appearing on Saturday night include: vocalist Garrett Caelan Weir (Mt. Carmel High School), who will attend Texas Christian University; pianist Proma Dewanjee (Carlsbad High School), who will attend Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts in the fall; and vocalist Anne Thorvick (Poway High School), who will pursue her musical education at New York University.

These six graduating high school seniors from across San Diego County were chosen from a slate of 10 deserving and multi-talented teens. Besides being musicians of great promise, the finalists have achieved many significant honors and awards during their school years and are active volunteers in their local community. Following their performances, the final ranking will be decided by audience vote. A total of $15,000 will be divided among them, with $3,500 going to the top spot each night, and $2,500 and $1,500 to the next picks. Tickets to the show can be purchased at or by calling 858-458-7664. Net proceeds benefit the RB Chorale Scholarship Fund.
