Learn about emergency measures in the event of a dam failure at Lake Poway due to an earthquake or other catastrophe at the Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC) meeting at the City Council Chambers, 13325 Civic Center Dr., on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m.

Speaking at the event is Terry Zaragoza, Interim Public Works Utilities Manager for the City of Poway. He will speak on the dam and how the City monitors the water levels of the reservoir, response plans in the event of damage to the dam, and how that will be communicated to the public.

Also speaking will be Alex Tardy, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Alex will explain the current and forecasted climate, Poway’s draught situation, and the flash flood warning system.
