PUSD Parents Group (PPG) hosted a free seminar on early identification and intervention of dyslexia among children and teens in late September. The International Dyslexia Association and Champions for Health partnered with PPG to provide parents with a dyslexia simulation, where they had the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities and experience some of the challenges and frustrations faced by people with the language-based learning disability.

PPG is a nonprofit organization that consists of PUSD parents, educators, and community members who work to provide all PUSD students with the highest possible quality of education by advocating specific initiatives at the district level. “PUSD Parents Group believes that all students have a fundamental right to obtain the literacy skills necessary to lead a productive life, and promotes literacy for all students,” PPG Board Member Michelle Perry said.
