Loving Life in Poway

Ten-year-old Poway resident Natasha Mar stays busy with a variety of activities in the community. She is an accomplished musician, dancer, and artist, receiving numerous awards for her talent. She started dancing at just two years old, and currently practices ballet, jazz, Flamenco, and Latin ballroom, even winning a youth award for Latin ballroom at the California Open dance competition. She began playing piano at three years old, and the cello at six. Natasha is no stranger to performing on stage; she has performed with the California Ballet for the past five years in The Nutcracker, with the San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Youth Symphony, the North County String Ensemble, and the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra. She also enjoys drawing, and has had her drawings displayed at the San Diego County Fair. She loves to sing as well, performing with the San Diego Children’s Choir and the school choir in the past.

In addition to her achievements in the performing arts, Natasha is involved in other areas of the community. She has volunteered at the local food bank and periodically performs with the North County String Ensemble at various San Diego County retirement homes. She also describes herself as a foodie. “I think that I get that from my mother since she owns three Thai restaurants: Lai Thai Restaurants in National City and Carmel Mountain Ranch and Takhrai Thai in Poway.” Natasha is in her first year at The Bishop’s School and is interested in getting involved with the orchestra and dance programs there.
