Meet Ciara Woodahl

student_woodahl2Ciara Woodahl is a young woman with a love for dance and a passion for helping others. “I have loved dancing for as long as I can remember. I started dancing when I was two years old and have been competing since the age of three. My mom started me off in dance classes from such an early age because of my high energy level and love of moving along to music,” revealed Ciara. She currently dances with San Diego Dance Centre, where she is part of the competition team. Ciara recently received the highest possible award at a Los Angeles area competition and is competing this summer for the title of Best Dancer of the Year in Las Vegas. She is also a member of an all-female krump team – a style of hip hop that includes isolations and sharp movements. Not only does Ciara love dancing, but she is inspired by her dance teachers each and every day. “My dance teachers inspire me to strive to be a better dancer, a better person, and a better friend,” said Ciara.

“My mom started me off in dance classes from such an early age because of my high energy level and love of moving along to music.”

In addition to dancing, Ciara is actively involved in the Poway National Charity League. As a part of that service, she has worked in the Poway Public Library and even delivers meals to elderly residents. “I have also assisted at the Poway Senior Center,” stated Ciara, who loves giving back to her local community.

Ciara attends Maranatha Christian School and especially enjoys the subject of mathematics. “I love math because of how it challenges me through every lesson and chapter,” related Ciara. She is a member of the Math Club at Maranatha and is on the 4.0 Honor Roll. She also plays basketball for the school and loves to spend time with her friends, many of whom she has known since kindergarten.

A resident of Poway since birth, Ciara lives with her mother, father, and brother. Her mother is a registered nurse, her father is an engineer, and her brother Connor is a senior at Maranatha Christian High School. When looking to the future, Ciara hopes to follow in her mother’s footsteps and work in the healthcare industry. “I plan to attend college and then become a medical doctor. I really want to help people be healthy and recover from their illnesses,” said this ambitious and accomplished 13-year-old.
