The Boyer Family Lives Life to the Fullest in 92064
Russ and Niki Boyer are both San Diego natives. “[We] actually grew up in Ramona but did not know each other,” said Niki. The pair met through mutual friends during their college years at San Diego State University, and have been together ever since. Today, with their three children, Baylei (11), Gavin (9), and Ryker (5), the family of five resides in the Lower Windmill community of Poway, a place they have been happy to call “home” for the last nine years.
“We love being in central Poway and our neighbors are amazing,” gushed Niki. “We have met some of our best friends living here and recently chose to remodel our house so we could stay in this neighborhood.” While most of the neighbors have children of similar ages, the Boyers have found the community support to be exceptional. “Friday night block parties are a ritual of ours and we all have a sense of family,” Niki noted.
Apart from the welcoming neighbors, the Boyers were attracted to the community for its great schools. “We knew that the Poway Unified School District is exceptional and wanted our kids to get the best education available,” said Niki, who is an educational consultant by trade. Another draw to 92064 was its unique location. “Poway is the best of both worlds; the country and coast. It’s far enough inland and close enough to the beach,” described Niki. “We like that we can walk/ride bikes to pretty much anything in Poway.”

And staying active in Poway is something the Boyer family knows a thing or two about. “We love sports, all sports,” shared Niki. “Our kids are heavily involved in Poway youth sports so we spend most of our time at baseball, soccer, cheer, softball, and basketball games. We also love biking, hiking, geocaching, and of course we are avid beach goers.”
Both Russ and Niki stay very involved in the kids’ activities. Niki volunteers in the classroom at Midland Elementary School and has coordinated the last four school auctions. And when Russ isn’t working his day job as a CPA, he participates in the Midland Dad’s Club. “Russ is also an assistant baseball coach to Gavin’s team,” added Niki.
With such a busy lifestyle, the Boyers don’t have much down time, but when they do, they like to take it easy. “If there’s ever a day without sports,” said Niki, “you will often find us at home napping!”
