Long Time Locals
Poway Roots Run Deep for the Taylor Family
Jason and Alicyn Taylor have resided in Poway for thirty plus years. The couple grew up in Poway and attended local schools. Alicyn, who moved a lot as a child, knows the district particularly well; she attended five schools in Poway Unified School District. Three years ago, the Taylor family moved into Poway Estates. “We love being here and running into old friends every time we go to the store!” exclaimed Alicyn. They also love their small, quiet cul-de-sac, their neighbors and the block parties.
Jason shares his love of the Poway community as a realtor for the Coldwell Banker Rancho Bernardo office and through his company, TaylorMoves, helping families sell and buy homes in San Diego. Alicyn works as a CPA and vice president of finance for the Western Region of Balfour Beatty Construction.
Today, the Taylor children, Hudson, 5, and Luke, 3, are being raised local, just like Alicyn and Jason. The boys attend school at St. Michael’s and Country Montessori and love all the extracurricular activities in the community. “Our boys spend all their time in Poway, from swim lessons at Floaties to soccer at the North County Soccer Park and Poway Little League,” Alicyn shared.
The Taylors take full advantage of the athletic opportunities in Poway. Alicyn and Jason rode in the 2013 Tour D’Poway, and Alicyn completed her first triathlon last year at the Tri Rock in San Diego. Hudson and Luke can be found playing basketball, soccer and golf. “They love sports, and we enjoy coaching their games and taking them on bike rides,” Alicyn said.
With an active lifestyle, getting around town is an easy task for this family. “We usually walk or ride bikes to almost all of our weekend spots, from coffee, Farmers Market, the gym, to manicures and pedicures!” Alicyn shared. Not wandering far from Poway is an important choice for the Taylor family. “We make a point to support local businesses as well as volunteering for St. Michael’s School and supporting all of the school and sports fundraisers,” Alicyn stated.
Living local in 92064 defines the Taylor family lifestyle. “It’s very special to live in a town like Poway, and it’s something we are always thankful for,” Alicyn acknowledged.
